Another Big Milestone!

Last week Frank flew up to Phoenix in the helicopter and spent an afternoon taking an oral and practical exam (aka, flight) in order to test for his Commercial Helicopter License. By God's grace and for His glory HE PASSED the test and is now a "real" helicopter pilot - Praise the Lord! This puts him at about a third of the way through the total helicopter training. From this point on he will be transitioning into advanced training in order to more specifically prepare him as a missionary helicopter pilot.

First minutes as a "real" helicopter pilot!

Immediately after the test, we left town for over a month of traveling. Currently, we are staying at the Missionary Training Center in Missouri (where we spent a whole year prior to moving to Arizona). This week Frank is taking their Tech course focused on designing and setting up solar powered systems for a jungle house. When he flies into a village he is not just there to deliver supplies. Our heart is to be an asset to the missionaries spiritually, emotionally and practically. This course is equipping him to help to set up or maintain/troubleshoot their electrical systems. Lack of power is a huge hindrance to the missionaries and the work they are there to accomplish.

Before this class, Frank had never even heard of DC soldering. This type of soldering is a great tool for missions because you don't always have an outlet to plug into but you will likely have a 12 volt battery nearby!

Exciting news from the Philippines!

Thank you for praying - just today our Philippine team flew their new R66 helicopter out to a tribe for the very first time! This is exciting to us because our team in McNeal spent several months working hard to prepare and ship it over there in time to keep the program continually functioning.

One of the big tasks was to paint it with our colors. Frank enjoyed being a part of this project and even helping to design the paint scheme. Now we rejoice with them as they use this aircraft to further His kingdom in the Philippines!

And here it is - its FIRST flight once reassembled and ready for service in the Philippines!
